AMALFI COAST

Visited: … September 2006

ONE OF EUROPES MOST FAMOUS COASTLINES
Lodging is expensive in the towns of Positano and Almafi so we spend three nights at an inexpensive hotel in Sorrento north of the Almafi Coast. We’ll explore the coast for two days. One day by boat and One day by Taxi Cab.

OUR FIRST DAY IS BY FERRY BOAT
We leave from Sorrento. Within an hour we reach Positano. It’s a thrilling ride.

OUR SECOND DAY IS BY TAXI CAB
There’s four of us so we just chip-in and rent a taxi cab and driver for the entire day. The driver turned out to be a great guide. He took us to all the famous places along the coast.

WE GET OFF THE BOAT, DO A LITTLE SHOPPING AND TAKE A WALK THROUGH POSITANO

AS WE CLIMB HIGHER WE REACH A SMALL PLAZA
A band is playing beautiful music in one of the towns small plaza’s.

FIFTY YARDS AWAY
A graceful woman dances against a sparkling blue sea.

WE TRAVEL FROM POSITANO TO RAVELLO
After about two hours in Positano we get back into our taxi cab and head down the coast to the towns of ALMAFI and RAVELLO. As we drive along the coast we see hotels clinging to the cliffsides.

DRAMATIC VIEWS ON A BEAUTIFUL DAY

THE HIGHWAY IS ALSO CLINGING TO THE HILLSIDE

WE REACH RAVELLO AND VISIT THE RAVELLO CATHEDRAL

UPWARD SPIRAL

Developing a ‘Photographic Eye’ is like walking up a spiral staircase ... each step takes you a little higher.

It’s like climbing a mountain, the higher you get, the more you see, and the more you see, the ‘higher’ you get.

With photography, the more pictures you take, the better you get, and the better you get, the more you enjoy it.
