PERU
Visited: June and July 2007.
A THREE WEEK ‘TRAVEL TOUR’. I WAS TRAVELING WITH 8 OTHER PEOPLE (ALL WOMEN) AND ALSO A COUPLE (HUSBAND AND WIFE) WHO WERE THE TOUR GUIDES.
Vivid celebrations. Evenings full of music and dance. I meet the Andean Condor and Gain a deep respect and affection for the Peruvian people.
LET’S BEGIN OUR TRIP
TRAVELING SOLO AGAIN
Early in the morning, in a small Peruvian town, I jump on a bus and head towards ‘CRUZ de la CONDOR’
WE ENTER COLCA CANYON
One of the worlds deepest gorges.
ON THE WAY WE MEET
Alpacas, Llamas and flocks of sheep
BEAUTIFUL HANDMADE CARPETS
For sale along the road.
CRUZ de la CONDOR
At one o’clock the bus reaches Peru’s third most visited area. About 120,000 visitors annually. They come to watch the Condors fly.
MANY VIEWING PLATFORMS
At this point the canyon floor is 3,900 feet below us.
HOME OF THE ANDEAN CONDOR
They begin their flights about 10:00 in the morning. Dozens of them flying here all day long.
